Many people have reportedly been killed in an Enugu community after an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen today, August 25, 2016.
The
heavily armed attackers were said to have invaded Atakwu community in
the Nkanu West Local Government Area early this morning.
According to Daily Post, the herdsmen shot villagers at sight and left many people, including a seminarian, dead.
“They
just came early this morning and started killing people. There is
confusion everywhere now; people are running helter-skelter,” a source said.
Fulani
herdsmen have been blamed for several attacks in various areas of the
country leading to a wave of
criticism against the government for
failing to address the issue.
The latest attack is yet to be confirmed by the relevant military authorities.
