Muhammad Ali Time magazine uses iconic photo of boxer on latest cover

In remembrance of the late, great boxer, Muhammad Ali, Time magazine has taken an image of the
sportsman from 1963 for the cover of their latest issue.

The image was taken by Philippe Halsman, one of the most important portrait photographers of the 20th century. Some of his famous portraits included that of Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe but Halsman’s photo of Ali, who died Friday at age 74,is still one of his most incredible images.

Ali first got on the Time magazine cover for their March 22, 1963 issue, when he still went by the name, Cassius Clay. He went on to appear on the cover of the prestigious magazine four times. Once again, he featured on the cover on Feb. 27, 1978, for a story which stated, “He is unlikely to go quietly into the past
